Getting the size right.
A short, practical guide to choosing a size and a frame, so the piece fits the wall and the room.

Which size fits.
Canvas runs from 20×20 to 70×100, with square sizes too. Posters come from 35×50 to 100×140. As a rule, go one size larger than feels safe, art almost always wants more room than the wall suggests.
Above furniture
Aim for a piece roughly two-thirds the width of the sofa or bed below it.
Hanging height
Centre the work at about 145 cm from the floor, eye level for most rooms.
As a set
Keep a consistent 5–7 cm gap between frames and let one palette run through.
Framing
Canvas can arrive in a frame, in black or natural, from 20×30 to 60×90 cm.
- Black, graphic and modern, good for high-contrast work and dark old masters.
- Natural, light wood, warm and calm, suits light walls and soft colours.
- No frame, the canvas wraps around the sides and hangs clean, like a painting.
The frame is a floating frame: the canvas sits inside it with a narrow gap all round. You see the extra cost for every size in the studio.
Size settles itself.
Pick your piece first. You see it on the wall at true size, and then you choose the format.
